Los Angeles Department of Weather Modification

New Weather examines the complex history of weather modification in Southern California in terms of weather, water infrastructure, and the changing arid city. The project hosts a series of concerts, rituals, and installations that feature the Los Angeles Department of Weather Modification: a loose performance collective of artists, designers, urbanists, scientists, musicians, and thinkers that alter the weather in mind and spirit. Structures, installations, objects, and, lectures, and performances all flow through the project, creating multiple pathways into understanding weather, water, and the complex ecologies of Southern California.

The installation serves as a platform for over 75 artist and stakeholders to share ideas, practices, and first hand experiences with weather and water. Previous contributors have included bread bakers, urban planners, academics, the President of the North American Weather Modification Association, and members of the Southern California Municipal Water District.
